Meet Mahalia

Mahalia, our Creative Director and Illustrator, knows her way around every hiking trail and bagel shop in the area as well as all the best ways to work with her sensitive skin. She’s our go-to person for any questions about effortless skincare routines and how to make an Instagram feed look great. She’s a woman of many talents, and we are oh-so-lucky to have her.

Q: What’s your daily skincare routine?

A: I am pretty minimalist with my morning and evening routines. I like to look my best with as few steps as possible. I am a very on-the-go type of person and will not stick to a routine that is too complicated, even though I know my skin would benefit from more products.

Q: What is your skin type?

A: Oily and a little on the sensitive side.

Q: What are your skincare concerns?

A: Blackheads, large pores, occasional hormonal breakouts, and balancing oil production.

Q: What are your favorite "holy grail" skincare products?

A: Sorella Apothecary Daily Greens. I love that it is a two-in-one that provides moisture and antioxidants while balancing my oily skin. I also love Le Mieux ISO-Cell Recovery Solution. I use it daily to add a nice dewy glow to my skin routine. It also works wonders on sunburns and bug bites. I don’t know what I would do without it.

Q: What’s your morning skincare routine?

A: I wash my face with Face Reality Antioxidant Scrub. I then tone with Rhonda Alison Mandelic Defense before applying Sorella Apothecary Daily Greens as my antioxidant moisturizer. I spritz with Le Mieux Iso-Cell Recovery Solution and then apply Sorella Apothecary Quench & Protect Hydrating SPF 30. On the days I wear makeup, I spritz Iso-Cell Recovery Solution over my makeup when I am done to help set the makeup and keep my skin fresh.

Q: What’s your nighttime skincare routine?

A: In the evenings I cleanse my face with Sorella Apothecary Orange You Jelly Cleanser and then apply Sorella Facial In A Bottle. It's simple, but works!

Q: Where is your dream vacation spot?

A: I really want to travel to Japan. I have ancestors from Wakayama prefecture and so would love to do a heritage trip there. I also want to visit Osaka and eat lots of amazing seafood.

Q: When you were little, what did you want to be?

A: A librarian. I struggled with dyslexia as a child and had trouble reading, but when I finally got the hang of it I couldn’t stop! I wanted to be surrounded by books forever.

Q: What’s your ‘can’t-live-without’ item?

A: If I’m honest, probably my phone. I wish it wasn’t though!

Q: What’s your biggest guilty pleasure?

A: Cheesy TV shows. The ones that are so terrible you would never recommend them to anyone... but you still secretly like watching them when you’re home alone.
